Man in Trouble for Allegedly Throwing Beverage at Ted Cruz
(RepublicanPress.org) – The country remains bitterly divided along partisan lines, leading to some acts of violence in recent months as the nation prepared for Tuesday’s midterm elections. Although he wasn’t injured, conservative firebrand Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) became the latest politician to be targeted when an individual hurled a hard seltzer can at his head at a parade.
On Monday, November 7, the Houston Police Department announced the arrest of Joseph Halm Arcidiacono, 33, for throwing a beverage can at Sen. Cruz. The politician was riding in the back of a military-style vehicle participating in a local parade celebrating the Houston Astros’ World Series victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.

The announcement alleged the beer can “struck” Cruz in the “chest/neck area,” but a review of the video of the incident appears to show Cruz successfully deflecting the projectile with his right hand.
Cruz expressed his gratitude on Twitter that “the clown who threw” the object “had a noodle for an arm.” He also pointed out that the projectile was actually a popular hard seltzer brand out of Canada called White Claw.
As always I'm thankful for the Houston Police and Capitol Police for their quick action.
I’m also thankful that the clown who threw his White Claw had a noodle for an arm. https://t.co/CRSfNHckA2

Houston police officers arrested Arcidiacono at the scene. Court records show officials charged him with aggravated assault and released him on a $40,000 bond. Prosecutors said a bystander grabbed the suspect as he attempted to leave the crime scene and walked him over to nearby police officers. Arcidiacono reportedly told them, “I know I’m an idiot.”
