(RepublicanPress.org) – In recent years, various nations have shown their missile capabilities in tests. When Russia recently used hypersonic missiles in its war in Ukraine, the US had only conducted partial tests of its own missiles. But, the US Air Force just announced that has changed.
On Monday, December 12, the Air Force reported that an Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon team based in Southern California successfully created and launched a full hypersonic missile. Armament Directorate Program Executive Officer and Brigadier General Jason Bartolomei emphasized in the press release how he’s “immensely proud of the tenacity and dedication this team has shown to provide a vital capability to our warfighter.”

China has also created a hypersonic missile, although it has not yet used it in combat. In 2021, it did test a fractional orbital bombardment system, which involved a rocket orbiting the Earth until it returned to the atmosphere and flew at hypersonic speeds towards its target.
In contrast, the US missile can travel five times the speed of sound at low altitude until it hits its target. Named the All-Up-Round AGM-183A, it’s a huge step forward in military technology that can be used to defend the US or its allies very quickly if needed.
