(RepublicanPress.org) – President Donald Trump has used the power to issue pardons, commutations, and other forms of leniency far less than any other president in modern history. His sparse use of it stands in stark contrast to Barack Obama, who wielded that power more than any president since Harry Truman. As of the end of 2020, President Trump granted a total of 86 acts of clemency and an additional 1 so far in 2021.
Like his predecessor, Trump granted only two kinds of official leniency: pardons, which basically erase a person’s record, and commutations, or sentence reductions. News agencies report he is preparing at least 100 more pardons and commutations this week. That estimate pales in comparison to the 1,927 issued by Obama during his 8 years.

The White House reportedly finalized the list during a meeting between President Trump, daughter Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner, and other aides. The list is believed to include white-collar criminals.
Contrary to rumors tossed about by liberals and the mainstream media, the president is not expected to pardon himself — why would he?
