(RepublicanPress.org) – In 2011, Democrats forced then-Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) out of office after the married lawmaker admitted to sexting with several women. A similar scandal derailed his bid for New York mayor a couple of years later, and in 2017, a federal judge sentenced him to 21 months in prison for sending obscene material to a minor. The disgraced former lawmaker recently made his first appearance on cable news since his release from prison in 2019.
On Monday, February 14, Weiner appeared on Fox News for an interview with host Sean Hannity. Hannity held the former congressman’s feet to the fire throughout the interview.
At one point, Hannity pointed out that Weiner pleaded guilty to sending inappropriate materials to a 15-year-old girl and served significant jail time for the offense. “Have you changed?” he asked, “are you a different person?”
Incredibly, Weiner responded, “I think so,” followed by some vague chatter about the fact it’s “probably true” that people change after facing “adversity.”
Taken aback by Weiner’s answer, Hannity interrupted.
“Wait a minute,” he exclaimed. He said Weiner’s reply was “obscure,” and either he knows he’s changed or he hasn’t.
Hannity followed up, asking Weiner again whether he changed or not. Weiner tried to dodge the question a second time, replying he wasn’t out to convince anyone that he changed.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Weiner gave any indication he’s changed for the better from his experience?
