(RepublicanPress.org) – California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom faces a recall election later this year over his mishandling of pandemic restrictions and its devastating impact on the state’s economy. On the flip side, Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis received high praise for his response and an epic boost to his reelection campaign’s treasury.
Friends of Ron DeSantis, a Florida political committee, posted its largest fundraising effort since 2018. The report, filed with the Florida Secretary of State’s office, showed it raised nearly $14 million in April.
In a show of force, Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political committee raised nearly $14 million in April as he prepares for a re-election campaign next year — and as speculation builds about a possible bid for president in 2024. https://t.co/jk0DVTddGs

Of particular note is the fact that his fundraising efforts have exploded this year, coinciding with efforts on the part of DeSantis to reopen the state. In January, he took in roughly $700K, slightly more than $3.2 million in February, and nearly $5.2 million in March.
Democratic Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried is expected to run against DeSantis in 2022 but has not announced her campaign yet. Florida Politics recently reported her campaign raised roughly $361,000 in April, giving her committee less than $2 million total cash on hand.
With his reelection campaign kicking off in earnest soon, his rise in popularity and ability to raise funds will help him defeat his Democratic rival to win another four year term — or maybe reach for higher office.
