North Korea Sends Warning to Biden Administration

( – Evans Revere, a former negotiator with North Korea, predicted Joe Biden would take a more hard-nosed approach with Pyongyang than Donald Trump. He also warned that the hostile nation might resort to extreme measures to push back on any major policy shift. As it turns out, his prediction may come true.

Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un, issued a stern warning to the Biden administration in a statement aired by state-run television on Tuesday, March 16.

She complained about the smell of gunpowder “in our land,” a reference to ongoing joint US-South Korean military exercises. If the United States “wants to sleep in peace” for the next four years, it needs to “refrain from causing a stink.”

However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing diplomatic efforts with North Korea, those military drills are limited to computer simulations.

Regardless of that fact, Kim Yo Jong’s warning remains crystal clear. “War drills and hostility” do not mix with diplomacy and “cooperation.”
