New Lawsuit Filed Against the Biden Administration

( – President Joe Biden hit the ground running after his inauguration. He executed more than a dozen presidential actions on his first day in office. His apparent lack of concern over constitutional limitations has sparked several legal actions in the courts.

Most recently, a group of 12 state attorneys general filed a lawsuit against Biden and several administration officials and agencies over his first executive order targeting climate change.

Filed on Monday, March 8, the suit alleged Biden lacked the constitutional authority to mandate new rules regarding greenhouse gases. Missouri’s Republican Attorney General Eric Schmitt spearheaded the lawsuit, arguing that Biden violated the Constitution’s separation of powers clause because Congress has the power to regulate the nation’s affairs, not the office of the president.

The lawsuit also claimed the executive order would “inflict hundreds of billions or trillions of dollars of damage” on the United States, lasting for decades. It would also destroy jobs, throttle the nation’s energy production and independence, and limit its agriculture.

Presidential overreach is nothing new. Barack Obama had several of his executive actions overturned by the courts. However, Biden appears to be well on the way to issuing more executive orders than any other president in the nation’s history.
