(RepublicanPress.org) – Democrats managed to maintain control of the House of Representatives in the wake of the November 3 general election. However, the leadership’s fate over that body remains in question, despite Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) smug post-election attitude.
On November 10, Newsweek reported that no one had challenged Pelosi’s role as speaker of the House. However, that’s not entirely true. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) predicted Republicans could wrestle control of the House from a divided Democratic Party during a Fox News interview on November 8.

As McCarthy pointed out, although Democrats retained control of the House, they did lose several seats. After the 2018 midterm elections, 15 Democrats voted against Pelosi, and 10 of them are returning in January. As McCarthy explained to Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, all it would take is a few of them to side with Republicans, and they could assume control over the House.
The scenario could be a long-shot. However, fractures are already appearing among Democrats in the wake of their disappointing performance in the recent election. The possibility of a Republican-led House does exist.
