(RepublicanPress.org) – Although Elon Musk has a longstanding history of disliking government intervention in big business and has embraced conservative politics for years, since he purchased Twitter in late 2022 and rebranded it as X, the billionaire has adopted a more right-wing position on the topics of the day. Musk recently announced his decision to move the Big Tech company and Space X to Texas — at least one of these being for political reasons regarding California’s liberal approach to parental rights.
Musk recently convinced Tesla shareholders to agree to his plan to reincorporate the Delaware company in Texas. He thanked Tesla backers on his X/Twitter account shortly before the measure passed, noting that the resolution and a concurrent measure introducing a multi-billion dollar pay package were “passing by wide margins.”
Musk’s Companies Moving
On July 16, Musk posted a statement on his X/Twitter account announcing his decision to move SpaceX from its Hawthorne, California headquarters to Starbase, Texas, a sprawling industrial complex for starship rockets near the southern tip of Texas.
Musk posted his notice in response to another X user’s post regarding a statement by the Libs of TikTok shortly after Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) signed the Support Academic Futures and Educators for Today’s Youth Act into law.
The X user asked Newsom if his passage of the law meant the “state” had become “the parent in California” due to the measure. Musk responded to the post by writing, “This is the final straw,” adding that he decided to move SpaceX due to California lawmakers’ attacks on “both families and companies” by passing AB 1955 and “many others that preceded it.”
Musk also plans to move X/Twitter’s headquarters to Texas. On July 11, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on his efforts to sublease the company’s San Francisco headquarters, and Business Insider later confirmed that he planned to relocate X/Twitter to Texas.
Whether Musk can relocate SpaceX and X/Twitter remains unclear. He would need shareholders to approve the shift as he did in June with Tesla.
New Law
On July 15, Newsom signed the Support Academic Futures and Educators for Today’s Youth Act (AB 1955), affirms existing California statute that prohibits public school officials or local governments from requiring workers and contractors to disclose information to parents regarding a student’s gender identity, orientation, or gender-based expression without pupils’ consent.
The law reportedly aims to protect the privacy rights of children attending public schools in California. However, critics of the new law say it undermines parents’ right to raise their children.
