MTG Detonating Plans TO Oust Speaker This Week

(RepublicanPress.org) – In March, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) filed a motion to vacate House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) from his position. The Georgia lawmaker has become increasingly upset about the speaker’s cooperation with House Democrats. While she reaffirmed her desire to remove Johnson in April, Greene is finally ready to take the issue to the floor.

On May 1, the Georgia rep announced she intends to force a vote on her motion this week, although the move will likely fail. The day before her announcement, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-CA) said Democrats would protect Johnson. The leaders said it’s time to “turn the page on this chapter of Pro-Putin Republican obstruction,” adding if Greene forces a vote to vacate, it would “not succeed.”

The Georgia legislator said she voted for Johnson after former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) ousting because of his voting record. She said it was conservative. Now, Greene claims the speaker has changed since gaining power, becoming someone “none of [them] recognize.”

Greene predicted that the GOP would lose the House majority if Johnson stayed in power. She isn’t alone in her desire to vacate the chair. Representatives Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ) support the move as well. Still, with the GOP’s razor-thin majority, Greene would need more lawmakers on her side — she doesn’t have them.

But that doesn’t seem to bother the GA legislator. She said even if the measure fails, the American people will have a list of people that favor a “uni party” over the GOP interests. She called that a “win.”

Johnson recently blasted Greene for her continued antics, telling NewsNation’s “The Hill” that she is not “proving” to be a “serious lawmaker.” The speaker added that he was there to do a job, not spend time thinking about what Greene will or will not do.
