Man Pleads Guilty in Shocking Little Caesars Case

( – In November 2021, Charles Doty Jr. walked into a Little Caesars in Tennessee to pick up his pizza. When the employees there informed him that he would have to wait 10 minutes for his meal, he left and returned with an AK-47 assault rifle demanding his food. Luckily, nobody was hurt during the tense interaction. Police arrested Doty soon afterward and the court has now made a decision as to his fate.

On September 12, The Smoking Gun reported that the 64-year-old pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated assault.

Doty left the restaurant after demanding a free side order for his wait, then returned with the rifle and pointed it at the worker behind the register. Another employee tried to leave the store, but the suspect stopped him, asking “where the h*ll he thought he was going.”

Meanwhile, one of the employees in the back dialed 911 for help. To diffuse the situation, another woman in Little Caesars, who just received her food, gave her pizza to Doty. That was enough to get him to leave before police arrived on the scene. The reports didn’t give an explanation for the defendant’s extreme reaction that day to such a small wait over a $6 pizza.

One of the employees involved in the incident, Noah Beeler, told WATE in 2021 that if the man had just waited two or three minutes when he returned with the gun, he would’ve had his food. Instead, Doty chose violence.

It’s unclear what kind of time Doty is facing. Aggravated assault is punishable in TN by between 3 and 15 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.

The prosecution’s spokesperson said the timeframe and manner of punishment will be up to the criminal court judge, because of the defendant’s “blind plea” on the matter. The judge overseeing his case scheduled his sentencing hearing for September 29.
