Man Pleads Guilty in Murder-for-Hire Case

( – A Vermont resident is facing a mandatory prison sentence of 15 years and as much as life in prison for his role in an international murder and child pornography scheme. On Thursday, October 14, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Vermont announced that former nurse Sean Fiore, 37, pleaded guilty to murder for hire, conspiracy to kidnap and murder an individual overseas, and two child pornography charges.

According to the plea agreement, Fiore contacted co-defendant Moraima Vasquez Flores in Venezuela in September 2018 and contracted her to produce a video of her kidnapping and torturing an unspecified minor child. A month later, Fiore paid Flores using $600 in Amazon gift cards after she sent him a video of a prepubescent boy consistent with his request.

The two allegedly continued talking using messaging application WhatsApp. According to court documents, Fiore agreed to pay Vasquez an additional $4,000 for a video depicting the torture and murder of a kidnapped “slave.” In addition, Fiore provided precise instructions regarding the manner of torture and death. Vasquez sent the link to Fiore to a video file in April 2019.

Prosecutors brought the case against Fiore and Vasquez as part of Project Safe Childhood, a federal initiative created to apprehend and prosecute individuals exploiting children using the internet. US District Court Judge Christina Reiss scheduled Fiore to be sentenced on March 1, 2022.
