(RepublicanPress.org) – Life is full of twists and turns, and it frequently defies people’s expectations for good and bad. Such was the recent case of a Michigan man who recently won a lottery payout.
On Friday, September 24, a local resident discovered a body washed up on a Saginaw Bay private beach. Authorities confirmed the remains belonged to Gregory Jarvis, 57, and an autopsy confirmed the cause of death as drowning. However, there’s more to the story than initially thought.

Local tavern owner Dawn Talaski told reporters that Jarvis had been walking on Cloud Nine after learning he won $45,000 in an add-on game in the state’s Lottery Club Keno on September 13. When she saw him on the 19th, he still hadn’t received his payout.
Michigan law requires individuals claiming lottery winnings over $600 provide a government-issued photo ID and proof of their Social Security number. Jarvis told her he had lost his Social Security card and was waiting to receive a new one in the mail.
Despite the delay in collecting his winnings, Jarvis bought everyone in the tavern a round of drinks that night. But, unfortunately, it turned out to be the last time anyone saw him alive.
Sadly, Jarvis still had the ticket with him when his body was found.
