(RepublicanPress.org) – George Conway, the husband of former Donald Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway, co-founded The Lincoln Project with a group of other Republicans at the end of 2019. Their stated purpose was to hold anyone accountable who violated their oath to the US Constitution, but they also worked hard to prevent the re-election of Trump at the end of 2020.
In January 2021, everything came crashing down on the organization when John Weaver, another co-founder, admitted to sending “inappropriate” messages after more than 20 men claimed they were sexually harassed by him via text messaging.
On February 16, Kurt Bardella, a former senior advisor for the group, posted a tweet saying it was time to shut the project down. Conway responded, tweeting that it was “a shame” but the “right” thing to do.
It's a shame, and we shouldn't forget the hard work of so many people and the positive things the organization did, but yes, I think this is right. https://t.co/To9dKcrigm

A few hours earlier, Conway tweeted that it was clear that Lincoln Project executives knew about Weaver’s conduct as early as March 2020. He also called on the group to waive existing non-disclosure agreements and “come clean” with the facts.
