Joe Manchin Praised by Republicans After Opposing Spending Bill

( – President Joe Biden and his Democratic accomplices in the House and Senate have been pushing their human infrastructure bill, Build Back Better (BBB), for months. However, moderate Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) threw a wrench in those plans, drawing praise from several Republicans.

On December 19, Manchin announced he would not vote for the Democratic-led plan during an appearance on Fox News Sunday. According to Manchin, he tried everything he could to reason with other Democrats, but they couldn’t agree on critical issues like its impact on the national debt, the bill’s exorbitant price tag, and rising inflation.

Manchin followed his Fox appearance by issuing a statement to confirm his opposition to the BBB plan. He also accused Democrats of trying to “reshape” American society by creating unnecessary vulnerabilities to current threats.

As one might expect, a flurry of Republicans praised Manchin’s decision to resist Democrats’ efforts to win his support. For instance, Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) called the senator a “statesman” for voting on behalf of his constituents at home instead of toeing the party line. Rep. Burgess Owens (R-UT) echoed that sentiment, adding that he represented “America at its best.”

Donald Trump Jr. also weighed in, complimenting Manchin for standing up against Biden’s “socialist boondoggle,” adding that it should prove interesting to see if the senator continues to push back against the radical left’s agenda.

Time will tell, but for now, Manchin appears to have delivered a huge blow to the Democrats’ beloved infrastructure bill.
