(RepublicanPress.org) – Joe Biden took a pickaxe to Donald Trump’s border security and immigration policies on his first day in office. Now, an unprecedented number of unaccompanied migrant children and other immigrants flood the nation’s southern border daily. He appointed Kamala Harris to spearhead the administration’s effort to handle the crisis, but weeks later, she hasn’t even managed to visit the border. It looks like Biden has come up with a new angle — toss more taxpayer money at the problem.
On May 18, he signed a presidential memorandum expanding access to legal representation and the courts for low-income individuals. Upon further inspection, it becomes clear that this includes unaccompanied children seeking asylum in the United States.

The memorandum stated that Biden would direct the Justice Department to submit a plan for expanding its system for offering legal representation to unaccompanied children. The Department of Justice (DOJ) will have 120 days to work out the details and presumably figure out how to pay for it.
With the nation struggling to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic problems, is now the time for more “tax and spend” programs that will aid immigrants?
