(RepublicanPress.org) – Disputes between politicians about potential tax hikes are nothing new. Generally speaking, Republicans like to see Americans keep as much of their hard-earned dollars as possible. Democrats want to expand the federal government and raise taxes to pay for their policies. However, President Joe Biden is now facing opposition to his proposed tax plan from within his own party.
Axios reported on March 29 that Biden is receiving pushback from moderate Democrats to his anticipated infrastructure package due to the inclusion of large tax increases.
President Biden's plan to pay for his coming infrastructure package with big tax hikes already is meeting some resistance from moderate Democrats, a stumbling block for his progressive ambitions. w @kadiagoba https://t.co/TI4AXJEdsE

Several Democrats have spoken out against the proposed increases, including Senators Joe Manchin (WV), Kyrsten Sinema (AZ), representatives Josh Gottheimer (NJ), and Tom Suozzi (NY).
Of particular concern is the timing of the tax increases. Rep. Gottheimer pointed out that Congress needs to be careful not to do anything substantial “in the middle of a pandemic and an economic crisis.”
On the bright side, with the Senate currently split 50/50, Democrats can’t afford any dissent. Any internal friction within the Democratic Party will likely prevent them from successfully forcing their leftist agenda on the country.
