(RepublicanPress.org) – A scandal erupted after the Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office revealed that state’s official tally of COVID-19 deaths at nursing homes was grossly underreported. Health officials initially reported 8,505 deaths as of January 19, but later revised that figure to 12,743. Cuomo’s latest words only functioned as more fuel for fire.
On Monday, February 15, Cuomo held a press conference to address concerns about the false figures. He admitted that the lack of transparency from his administration created a “void,” and that withholding the information was a mistake.
Cuomo’s self-described “VOID” is actually the following:
– Void of accountability
– Void of transparency
– Void of empathy
– Void of responsibility
– Void of honesty
– Void of integrity
– Void of legality
– Void of compassion
– Void of judgement
– Void of leadership https://t.co/0S8rBhRZIz

The social media backlash was swift, with #CuomoCoverUp trending for hours. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) spearheaded the effort with a tweet listing several “voids” created by Cuomo like “honesty,” “compassion,” and “leadership.”
Others, like Columbia University professor and trauma expert Anthony Zenkus, had a personal connection to the scandal.
These Twitter users are calling for accountability following reports about how Cuomo handled the virus and the spread of information. According to Fox News, New York Assemblyman Michael Montesano has even discussed the possibility of impeachment in the wake of this scandal.
