(RepublicanPress.org) – Former President Donald Trump spends most of his time out of the spotlight these days. However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t busy actively engaging in politics behind the scenes. Trump has been quietly meeting with prospective GOP candidates in the upcoming 2022 midterm elections, making his opinion known, and endorsing some of them. Rep. Billy Long (R-MO) made a big announcement this week shortly after meeting with the former president.
On August 3, Long reportedly met with Trump at his Midtown Manhattan Trump Tower complex. Shortly afterward, he announced his decision to enter Missouri’s US Senate race during an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Trump hasn’t spoken out about Long’s candidacy, yet. But, it is noteworthy that former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway has signed on to serve as a senior adviser to Long’s campaign.
Long also retained the services of top Trump fundraiser Caroline Wren and the media firm that handled both of the former president’s presidential campaigns.
Billy Long is a 10-year veteran of the US House of Representatives who has consistently positioned himself as a staunch ally of Donald Trump and his “America First” agenda. He has a solid record as a conservative and has received numerous awards from noted organizations like FreedomWorks and the American Conservative Union.
Trump won Missouri by 15-points in 2020. So, it could prove interesting to see who else might approach him and toss their hat in the ring.
