DeSantis Proclaims His State Is “Where Woke Goes To Die”
(RepublicanPress.org) – A Red wave hit Florida on Tuesday, November 8. Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) beat his Democratic challenger, Charlie Crist, in the gubernatorial race by a wide margin. The governor’s victory speech made it clear he was not done yet.
On the night of the election, the newly re-elected governor gave a victory speech in Tampa and told the crowd, “Florida is where woke goes to die.” DeSantis said he and his constituents love freedom, believe in parental rights, and “reject woke ideology.” He said that he “looks forward to the road ahead.”
DeSantis backed many candidates for positions in the state. Several of those won their elections on election day. The governor and his picks were the only winners in Florida. According to Fox News, Florida’s15th Congressional District GOP candidate Laurel Lee credited DeSantis for the “incredible coalition of voter support” that Republicans received.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) won his race against congressional candidate Val Demings (D). Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) also claimed an easy victory over his Democratic competitor. Out of 28 districts in Florida, only 8 elected a Democrat. The rest turned or stayed crimson red, making the state one of the most successful for the GOP on election night.
What do you think about DeSantis’ victory speech and the conservative wins in the state?
