(RepublicanPress.org) – The events of the past several months leave little room for doubt that former President Donald Trump heads the Republican Party. As a result, GOP leaders like House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and candidates in the upcoming midterm elections are flooding to Mar-a-Lago in hopes of earning Trump’s support.
J.D. Vance, a Republican Senate candidate for Ohio, hasn’t made the trek yet to Mar-a-Lago, but he did tell Fox News he regretted posting tweets critical of Trump in the past.
“I criticized Trump back in 2016,” he told Fox News host Alicia Acuna during a July 5 interview. Vance also asked people not to judge him based on the since-deleted tweets he posted before Trump took office.

“I’ve been very open” about making those harsh posts and “I regret them,” Vance stated. “He was a good president… [and] he made a lot of good decisions” for Americans during his time in office.
Vance said it wasn’t important what he had to say five years ago. Instead, it is important for people to understand his willingness to take the heat for defending their interests.
The Republican’s interview could make him a stronger contender in his bid for a seat in the US Senate. However, it remains unclear what, if anything, Donald Trump will have to say about his candidacy.
