(RepublicanPress.org) – The success of a presidential campaign is getting the candidate’s message out to voters. That messaging comes in the form of rallies, speeches, and ads — all of which cost a great deal of money. Recently, former President Donald Trump released an ad meant to target voters in Atlanta, Georgia, but it reportedly ran into some problems.
On May 4, the presumptive GOP presidential candidate’s son, Donald Trump Jr., posted one of his father’s campaign ads in hopes of making it go “viral.” He claimed that Google censored the video “to protect Biden.”
The tech company confirmed to The Telegraph that the ad was temporarily removed but restored after review. A Google spokesperson said the decision to remove the clip was an “error,” the advertiser appealed the decision, and it was “quickly overturned upon further review.”
According to political election analyst Andrew Arenge, The Make America Great Again super PAC spent $15,000 on the ad, which was taken down for a policy violation. He stated that Google only restored the ad after several people complained. Several conservative news sources claimed the action by “big tech” was done to help President Joe Biden win reelection, with one source saying he was “failing and flailing [to] stay in office.”
In 2020, Biden beat Trump in Georgia by 11,779 votes, representing only 0.3% of the ballots cast in the state. That matter was highlighted by the famous phone call that Trump made to then-Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger after the election — for which he’s facing criminal charges. Regardless, it was a close race, won by Biden in part by his supporters in Atlanta — the very place the recent ad was running.
At the end of March, Trump’s campaign reported having about $45 million to spend on reelection efforts. Presumably, some of that money was used for the Georgia ad, which started running on April 25 and seemed to be down for less than a day.
