Ex-College Physician Accused of Assaulting Patients

( – In February, the Ohio State Medical Board permanently pulled Dr. Donald Alexander Gronbeck’s license to practice medicine and surgery in The Buckeye State. As part of the signed paperwork, the ex-medical professional admitted to sexual misconduct involving his patients. The documents went into graphic detail about his actions, including his mishandling of prescription drugs.

On October 21, Greene County Sheriff deputies arrested Gronbeck for 50 counts including rape, gross sexual imposition, sexual imposition, and sexual battery. WHIOTV 7 reported Prosecutor David Hayes said the doctor’s crimes spanned over nine years and affected 15 women in total.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said Gronbeck betrayed the trust of his position as a physician. The state intends to hold the suspect in custody pending trial. According to reports, his lawyer John Paul Rion entered his not guilty plea on Thursday, October 27. Gronbeck is scheduled to appear in court again in mid-November for a bond hearing.

The Ohio resident conducted his private practice in Yellow Springs and also treated patients on the Antioch University campus. The evidence against Gronbeck includes a partial video recording of his actions taken by one of his victims. In addition, police previously executed a search warrant at his practice in January, which produced enough cause for the medical board to yank his credentials quickly.
