(RepublicanPress.org) – Criminal elements and so-called activists have targeted public figures and politicians with increasing frequency. The latest incident against a sitting US senator prompted a quick response from the FBI.
A senior advisor to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) reported that the FBI and Capitol Police launched an investigation after the senator received a suspicious package that contained a white powder at his Kentucky residence on Monday, May 24.
This type of conduct against any citizen, much less a member of Congress is unacceptable. I encourage the great folks at the FBI to bring to justice those responsible #istandwithRand https://t.co/Rzltbcqxrp

Paul released a statement later that day linking the incident to a tweet by 1980s pop star Richard Marx. He also posted a fiery tweet, stating that it was “reprehensible” that platforms like Twitter allowed “C-list celebrities” to call for violence against him and his family.
Sadly, this isn’t the first time Rand Paul has been the victim of violence or the threat of violence. A former neighbor, Rene Boucher, assaulted him in 2017. He ended up serving about eight months in prison and an additional six months under house arrest.
