Fauci Says Pandemic Is Over but Does He Really Mean It?

Flip-Flop Fauci Caught Again

(RepublicanPress.org) – When it comes to COVID-19 and guidance, there’s been a lot of flip-flopping in terms of advice and the status of the pandemic. Recently, Dr. Anthony Fauci spoke with PBS “NewsHour” and said he believes the United States is “out of the pandemic stage,” but appeared to add more to that the following day. That has people wondering if he’s flip-flopping on his opinion.

Speaking to The Washington Post, Fauci elaborated on his prior statement. He still maintains the pandemic stage is over, but that we’re out of the acute stage, and it’s now in a “transitional phase,” moving toward an endemic. An endemic is limited to specific geographical areas and causes only sudden outbreaks, as opposed to a pandemic which is a prolonged period of a disease that spreads to many areas — or in the case of COVID-19, globally.

According to Dr. Fauci, the United States will likely still see periods of infections as the virus mutates and new strains develop. However, with the availability of vaccines and the high immunity rate, Fauci is hopeful future waves of COVID-19 won’t cause devastating numbers of hospitalizations and deaths.
