Famous Singer Calls for Redesign of American Flag

(RepublicanPress.org) – The rise of cancel culture hit the American scene in unexpected ways over the course of the past year. For example, former presidents Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln had their names removed from public schools in San Francisco after the local school board decided to rename 44 schools named after questionable individuals with “dishonorable legacies” and “ties to racism.” Liberals called for a boycott of Goya Foods products after the company’s head praised Donald Trump.

Now, the United States flag has come under fire in the latest round of attempted cancellations.

R&B and soul singer Macy Gray published an op-ed piece in MarketWatch on June 19. She wants a new flag that represents “all” Americans. According to her, the flag was co-opted as a symbol when “stormers rained on the nation’s [capital],” waving Old Glory during the January 6 incident.

Despite the resulting outrage, Gray dug her heels in during an interview with TMZ on June 22. According to her, insurrectionists used the American flag as “their badge and symbol,” changing how she feels about its continued use.

The US flag is steeped in history. Is there really any reason to replace it because a group of people carried it with them when they marched on Washington DC?
