Donald Trump Approval Increases in Iowa

( – Former President Donald Trump remains secretive regarding whether he intends to run for president in 2024. However, one thing isn’t a mystery — the fact his popularity has remained steady since he departed the White House in January.

On Monday, October 4, media outlets reported that Trump received his highest favorability rating ever in Iowa. The Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll showed 53% of participants viewed the former president favorably. Forty-five percent (45%) reported having an unfavorable view, and 2% didn’t offer conclusive opinions on Trump.

Trump also outperformed other Iowa favorites in the poll. An overwhelming 91% of Iowa Republicans viewed him favorably, with only 7% unfavorable and 2% unsure.

Iowa’s Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds received a favorable rating from 90% of the poll’s participants, and 81% of Iowans said they viewed long-standing US Senator Chuck Grassley (R) favorably. Trump also polled well with key Republican demographic groups within the state. For instance, 73% of evangelical Christians viewed him favorably, with 68% of rural residents saying the same. Additionally, a majority of men, 61%, view Trump favorably, although only 48% of women view him positively.

The Des Moines Register and Mediacom conducted the poll from September 12 to 15, 2021, with a margin of error of up to +/- 3.5%.

Trump plans to hold a campaign-style rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines on Saturday, October 9. It will mark his first visit to the Hawkeye State since the 2020 presidential election.
