China Shuts Down Bible Apps in Latest Act of Tyranny

( – Communist China’s authoritarian leadership style was on full display the past year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was first reported in its Wuhan province. Chinese authorities initially covered up news about the virus. They’ve also allegedly done their best to conceal information regarding a genocide against the Uyghurs in Xinjiang. Now, the government is reportedly upping the ante in its ongoing war against Christianity.

The Christian Post reported that China removed several Bible apps and Christian WeChat accounts on Saturday, May 1. The move was part of a crackdown on religious staff operations using “highly restrictive administrative measures.”

United States Christian group International Christian Concern (ICC) first reported China’s apparent attack on Christianity. According to the ICC, hard copies of the Bible aren’t available for purchase online, making the availability of Christianity’s most important document difficult.

The ICC did note that individuals could bypass the block using a VPN, a private network that can change a person’s country of origin on the internet.

What’s happening in China is a grim reminder to Americans to be vigilant about threats to their own freedoms and beliefs. For those who might think it can’t happen here — take a second and visit former President Donald Trump’s Twitter page.
