China Responds to Sanctions With Stern Warning

China Warns Against Meddling With Internal Matters

( – China has a long history of interfering inside other countries’ borders through its acquisition of foreign exchange reserves. For example, China currently holds $3.2 trillion in United States reserves. However, when faced with sanctions over its alleged human rights abuses, China forcefully retaliated by issuing a blanket warning to the offending nations.

China’s foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying warned the United States, Canada, Britain, and the European Union that they would face consequences during a press conference held on Tuesday, March 23.

Calling the sanctions a “slander and an affront” to the Chinese people, Chunying warned of China’s “firm determination” to defend its national interests. Continuing, she said the offending nations would “pay the price for their folly and arrogance.”

Undeterred, Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed the commitment of the United States and its overseas allies to address China’s alleged human rights abuses and other issues of concern.
