(RepublicanPress.org) – Law enforcement officials have been looking for Brian Laundrie for weeks. On September 1, he returned home from a cross-country trip without his fiancée Gabby Petito, 22, offering no explanation. A few weeks later, the FBI announced the discovery of her body in a Wyoming national forest, and officials quickly ruled her death a homicide. Although they haven’t been able to locate Laundrie yet, the search for him recently uncovered a body unrelated to him or Petito.
On Sunday, October 10, WSOC-TV correspondent Dave Faherty reported an unnamed individual discovered a body lying alongside the Blue Ridge Parkway in Watauga Country, North Carolina. The find led to widespread speculation that the remains belonged to Laundrie. However, the FBI later confirmed to the dual ABC/Telemundo-affiliated television station that this was false.
Breaking Watauga County- just got this from the FBI-“The body discovered along the Blue Ridge Parkway on Saturday is part of an ongoing investigation. At this time, there is no evidence to connect or any reason to believe it is related to the search for fugitive Brian Laundrie." pic.twitter.com/5RG3FpsMIV

The US National Park Service also confirmed the discovery of the body. It will lead the investigation into the unidentified person’s death. Officials haven’t released the official cause yet, but investigators believe the person was stabbed.
FBI agents and other state and local law enforcement officials throughout the United States continue the hunt for Laundrie. He remains the lone person of interest in Petito’s disappearance and murder.
