Biden Ends Trump's International Anti-Abortion Policy

( – Pro-life supporters are gathering for the online virtual “March for Life” rally at noon eastern on January 29. The event is held annually on or near the anniversary of the legalization of abortion in the United States in 1973. The rally will include inspirational speeches from pro-life leaders and information covering how to work year-round to create a culture where every life is protected and valued.

However, the new president is throwing a wrench into the pro-life movement’s plans.

One day before this event, the Biden administration issued a memorandum rescinding a long-standing policy of blocking the use of taxpayer funding for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that provide abortion services globally. Known as the “Mexico City Policy,” the restriction was initiated by President Ronald Reagan and recently expanded by Donald Trump.

As March for Life head Jeanne Mancini noted on Twitter, this development is a huge blow to Americans who don’t want tax payments funding overseas abortions. Several Republicans pushed back on the move, like Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), who criticized Joe Biden’s lack of regard for “oppressed” people. Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) called Biden the “most pro-abortion president” of his lifetime.
