Biden Administration Strikes: Deportation of Illegal Immigrants Paused

(RepublicanPress.org) – It should come as no surprise that the incoming administration of Democrat Joe Biden will focus much of its attention on dismantling measures put in place during the Trump administration. Still, Biden’s determination to remove national security measures put in place by Donald Trump is still shocking.

David Pekoske, the acting Homeland Security director, imposed a “100-day pause” on certain deportations of illegal immigrants in an interagency memorandum issued on January 20, 2021. This was just hours after the inauguration ceremony.

The policy goes into effect on Friday, January 22. The measure means immigrants with prior criminal convictions and pending charges will be exempted from deportation during that time frame.

It’s understandable for an incoming administration to want to put its own policies into place. But implementing changes like this that put American lives at risk is a completely different situation.
