Biden Administration Starts Revoking Trump Energy Policies

( – Joe Biden campaigned on a promise to lead a clean energy revolution to address the issue of climate change. It appears his administration is moving in that direction at the potential peril of America’s energy sector.

Interior Secretary Deb Haaland issued two Secretarial Orders prioritizing action on climate change on April 16. The first order revoked 12 Trump administration orders regarding fossil fuel development on public lands and waters. Her second order established a Climate Change Task Force to “prioritize action on climate change” within all department decisions.

Kevin O’Scannlain, vice president of the American Petroleum Institute, warned that reversing those Trump-era programs would harm national security and the environment. It would also return the United States “to greater reliance on foreign energy.”

Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) went a step further and accused the Biden administration of betraying American energy workers. He predicted the orders would “result in higher energy bills” for Americans and “fewer jobs for America’s energy workers.”
