Alleged FBI Employee Accused of Expressing Disappointment After Trump Rally Shooting

FBI Agent Ignites Firestorm With Trump Assassination Post

(RepublicanPress.org) – On July 13, former President Donald Trump was holding a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when shots rang out. Thomas Matthew Crooks situated himself on top of a nearby roof with an AR-15-style rifle and allegedly shot at the GOP presidential candidate. Trump was injured, one other man was killed, and two bystanders were critically injured. One FBI employee is reported to have garnered attention for making light of the incident.

After the shooting, former FBI analyst Chris Toompas told The Federalist that purported FBI employee Jenna Howell shared a meme expressing disappointment that the apparent assassination attempt failed. She reportedly shared an image of the Grim Reaper using a claw machine and unsuccessfully picking up Trump. The words at the bottom read, “Awwww, so close.”

Howell also reportedly posted a message about guns, stating that the “gun-toting, 2nd Amendment-loving hillbillies” should be quiet unless they now speak up about gun control. Toompas revealed that Howell worked in the agency’s Identity Research Department.

Former FBI agent Kyle Seraphin shared the news on social media, stating that Howell worked for the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) background check sect within the FBI. Toompas said that was her former position, and that she is now part of the Identity Research Department. The NICS determines who can own firearms in the US. Seraphin’s post garnered severe backlash from social media users stunned that Howell was still part of the agency and wondering how she obtained top secret clearance. At least one person called for her to be fired. The FBI has not confirmed the news or stated whether or not Howell works for the agency.

The FBI updated the public about its investigation into the assassination attempt, calling the incident potential domestic terrorism. The agency has looked at Crooks’ phone and other electronics, searched his home and vehicle, conducted interviews, and reviewed footage to try and put the pieces together about the alleged shooter and what happened that day.
