(RepublicanPress.org) – President Joe Biden’s ability to secure a second term in office could hinge on the public’s perception of his mental abilities. His opponent, former President Donald Trump, frequently refers to him as “Sleepy Joe” while disparaging his alleged declining cognitive functioning.
Biden’s decades-long pattern of making bizarre gaffes hasn’t helped matters. One of his recent fumbles and its underlying truth raised alarms.
Biden Admits He Has Trust Issues?
Biden recently started campaigning in earnest, traveling the country, giving speeches, kissing babies, and doing all the things candidates do on the campaign trail. He has focused most of his attention on swing states like Florida, which proved to be the tipping point for former President George W. Bush’s 2000 victory over former Clinton Vice President Al Gore.
On April 23, Biden ignited scrutiny, condemnation, and mockery during a campaign event at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa. The president ranted and raved about abortion, claiming that American women have fewer rights in 2024 “than their mothers and grandmothers… because of Donald Trump.”
Continuing, he tossed out a confusing stream of word salad, telling attendees, “I don’t know why [Trump is]—we’re surprised by Trump.” He quickly followed up with the gaffe of the day by flubbing his teleprompter lines by asking why anyone should trust his administration.
Curiously, the White House attempted to undo the damage by altering the president’s words by adding “he” to the gaffe to clarify what Biden meant — as if it wasn’t already obvious to the world. The official version reads, in part, “How many times does he have to prove we – [he] can’t be trusted.”
Biden followed up a few days later by reading the instructions off his teleprompter to “pause” during a speech. Perhaps it’s a bit of an exaggeration, but former Fox News personality Megyn Kelly shared a clip of the president’s gaffe, musing that Biden “might have just lost” the election because of it.

The President Has a Real Problem With Voters
Recent polling shows that a solid majority of registered voters have similar concerns. For instance, 57% of the recent Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll participants indicated they thought Biden was mentally unfit for office. Likewise, 63% said he was too old to serve as president.
Public sentiment has collapsed to the point that leftist politicians like California’s Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom have hit the campaign trail to defend Biden’s mental ability to serve a second term. Likewise, Hollywood elitists like Michael Douglas have run interference for the president.
The 79-year-old actor said Biden appeared “sharp as a tack” during a recent CNN interview. However, he followed up by excusing the president’s behavior by explaining that everyone has memory issues as they get older. “We forget names,” he admitted.
