(RepublicanPress.org) – According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 34% of women murdered in the United States were murdered by their partners in 2021. Sanctuary for Families recently reported that nearly three women are killed by their immediate partners every day. Indeed, Connecticut mom Jennifer Dulos, allegedly murdered in 2019 by her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, is just one of many.
On January 11, CBS News reported that Mr. Dulos’ girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, was set to go on trial for allegedly helping him cover up Mrs. Dulos’ murder. She was reportedly charged with conspiracy to commit murder, evidence tampering, and hindering prosecution. Troconis, whose DNA was found on one bag seized by police, was seen with Fotis Dulos in recordings as he disposed of garbage bags in random bins. According to police, she also helped her boyfriend script an alibi.
Mr. Dulos, the main suspect in his estranged wife’s murder, will not face prosecution. He committed suicide after he was charged with the crime in 2020.
On May 24, 2019, Jennifer Dulos was reportedly attacked in her home after dropping off her five children at school. To this day, her body has never been found. While the details of the murder are unknown, police theorize that Fotis Dulos drove a pickup truck borrowed from his place of work to the town in which Jennifer lived before riding a bicycle the rest of the way there. At her home, he allegedly attacked her in the garage, put her body in her SUV, and drove off. Both Mr. Dulos and Troconis were arrested in early 2020.
In October 2023, Troconis reiterated previous claims of innocence, stating on social media that she was “wrongly accused.” She thanked her family and friends for sticking by her side and said she was “ready to finally move forward with the trial.” Her sister, Claudia Troconis, said her sibling was incapable of such a crime.
The trial began on Thursday, January 11.
