(RepublicanPress.org) – Born in West Virginia in 1932, Evans Evans grew up to become an actress. She was best known for playing Velma Davis in “Bonnie and Clyde,” next to Gene Wilder, Warren Beatty, and Faye Dunaway. Her most recent role was Mrs. Gebhardt in 1989’s “Dead Bang.” After 91 years on this earth, the character actor recently said goodbye.
Her obituary recently revealed that Evans Evans Frankenheimer died on June 16 in Sherman Oaks, California. The notice didn’t provide any details about the actress’ death. Evans was the widow of director John Frankenheimer, who died in 2002. They were married for nearly 39 years. During her time in front of the camera, the actress played many roles, mostly on television. Those included playing characters on such hits as “The Twilight Zone,” “Gunsmoke,” “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “The Donna Reed Show,” and “77 Sunset Strip.”
Her first appearance was in 1957 in a series called “Studio One,” where she played the character Ellen. Evans’ movie credits aside from “Dead Bang” and “Bonnie and Clyde” include “All Fall Down” in 1962 and “The Iceman Cometh” in 1973. She had a stint on Broadway, too, in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Those creations included “The Dark at the Top of the Stairs,” “The 49th Cousin,” and “A Distant Bell.”
In 2016, Mrs. Frankenheimer sat for an interview to talk about her time on the set of “The Manchurian Candidate,” which her late husband directed. She talked about her experience watching the filming, the actors she encountered, their interactions with her husband, and traveling to promote the movie. The actress said she was excited about the 1988 re-release of the film.
According to IMDB, the Frankenheimers had two children — Kristi and Elise Frankenheimer. It’s unknown if they are in show business like their parents. While there are few details about Evans Evans’ life after acting, her talent and contribution to the arts are memorialized on film. She won’t soon be forgotten by fans around the globe.
