(RepublicanPress.org) – On June 11, a jury in Delaware found Hunter Biden guilty of three felony gun-related charges. The group unanimously agreed that the president’s son lied on a form to purchase the gun, stating he was not a drug addict. While a sentencing date has not yet been set, it seems that Hunter Biden’s troubles are not over. Now, his law license in on the line.
Following his conviction, the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, which handles punishments for members of the bar in Washington, DC, reportedly sent a letter to the DC Court of Appeals. It wanted to ensure that Biden’s law license was “suspended immediately” in DC “pending resolution” of his appeal. The bar in the nation’s capital treats felonies as a “serious crime,” and policy states that the court suspends Biden’s license no matter the status of the offender’s appeal. However, the court does not have to abide by the rule and can waive such a suspension. It’s unclear what it will decide in this case.
Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden and his first wife, Neilia, graduated from Georgetown University in 1992 before moving on to Georgetown Law to earn his juris doctorate. One year later, he transferred to Yale, where he completed his law degree studies and worked as a lawyer in Delaware.
The first son then joined the US Navy Reserves in 2013 and served his country until he failed a drug test, which he insisted must have been a laced cigarette. Regardless, he was discharged and moved to the business world. After his brother, Beau Biden, died of cancer, Hunter Biden developed a substance abuse problem — a disease that he still struggles with. He’s reportedly been sober now since 2019.
Biden is expected to appeal his conviction, as he reportedly has several avenues to pursue. He currently faces a sentence of up to 25 years in prison and a substantial fine; however, being his first offense, it’s unlikely Biden will see that kind of punishment.
