Maxine Waters Fears Trump Will Start Civil War

(RepublicanPress.org) – As the election season heats up, the country seems increasingly divided. The former president and presumptive GOP presidential nominee has talked about vengeance and dictatorship if he is once again voted into the White House. One representative questioned how former President Donald Trump’s words could affect America’s future.

Recently, Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) appeared on “The Saturday Show” on MSNBC, where she said the former president’s words were “divisive,” adding that Trump “mentioned civil war” and “bloodshed.” The representative wondered aloud if that was what his followers were preparing for, asking if Americans should “be concerned.”

Waters said that kind of talk was “dangerous.” The California lawmaker also said that Trump is a criminal “who disrespects the Constitution and democracy.” She wondered how far his supporters were willing to go. Waters asked if “they” were going to attack and who they would target.

On May 30, Trump was convicted of 34 counts associated with the falsification of business records, making him the first former president to become a convicted felon. The conviction upset him and his base, presumably leading — at least partially — to Waters’ concerns. Several GOP lawmakers spoke out against the justice system in response to the verdict, setting the example that the branch of government can no longer be trusted.

Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) called the conviction, the judge, the DA, and the trial “corrupt.” Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said “radical leftists and deep state operatives” planned the whole thing. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said he expects the verdict will be overturned and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) openly criticized the Manhattan legal system.

Waters’ warning seems to have merit, as MAGA activists said a “civil war” could be coming in response to Trump’s conviction. Political commentator Joey Mannarino said on social media that it’s already begun, adding that America is “no longer the United States.” Several others called for “war.”

Judge Juan Merchan will hand down Trump’s sentence on July 11.
